The entrance of the whalers into the Inuvialiut hunters’ lives not only changed their annual schedule of travelling and hunting but changed the way that they viewed the actual killing of animals. With the whalers seemingly insatiable demand for meat, the Inuit began to kill animals in large numbers, rather than just for what they needed.
